From The Deep City Label — one of Numero Group’s many rollicking Eccentric Soul collections — this number is, as Jamie Lidell said, “a blazer.” This isn’t a vinyl rip you’re hearing; recorded originally on acetate, this is actually the best version that exists, literally unearthed after being buried under years of dirt. Somehow, though, this only adds to the power of the song — a blast of horns, fuzz, and fury.
